Greenville Chautauqua is interactive theatre presenting History that Just Won’t Stay in a Book! A Chautauqua performance takes you on an astonishing journey into the past, where historic figures appear on stage and talk with us. When they answer your questions, you become an “eyewitness to history.”

Since 1999, Greenville Chautauqua has brought together thousands of citizens to discuss the ideas, personalities and events that have shaped our heritage. They come to meet great Americans “in person” -- to laugh with Mark Twain -- to dream with Martin Luther King, Jr. -- to walk the Trail of Tears with the Cherokee -- to wonder with Rachel Carson. And they leave with a deeper insight of who we are as Americans.

Each Father’s Day weekend in June we present a week long festival of 20+ performances all FREE and open to the public. Evening performances outdoors where the audience can enjoy their heritage on a summer evening and daytime performances indoors. Other performances throughout the year.
